Breaking: Portland’s Burnside Brewing Served Eviction Notice
Late last night, a Reddit user posted an internal email sent to employees that read (transcribed verbatim):
“Effective Tuesday February 5th, Burnside Brewing is no longer operational. It is not certain that we will be able to make payroll this Friday, WAGES WILL BE PAID AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Please move forward with filing unemployment claims, we will be in touch with paycheck information as soon as we are able... Sincerest of thank you for your character, time and efforts.”
About an hour ago, local writer Kris McDowell provided some pretty strong confirmation by snapping this photo, posted on the brewery’s front door.
Burnside was founded nine years ago by Jay Gilbert, Jason McAdam, and Adam Cassie has been a fixture of the inner Southeast for years. Burnside sold around 2,700 barrels in Oregon in 2017, but had tumbled to just 1.900 barrels through November of 2018. The declines started after posting sales in Oregon of 3,479 barrels in 2016.
If I get more news, I’ll update this post.
