With apologies to non-Portlanders, a reminder about two important events this week. On Tuesday, The Widmer Way gets its official launch at 5pm at Widmer Brewing, and I’ll be doing my first ever book reading at 7:30 pm on Friday at Powell’s (I’ve done many book events; none were readings). Two important notes:
These events are fun and you’ll enjoy yourself, but also, attendance makes them more fun. So please come to one of them.
You are under absolutely no obligation to buy a book. You can just come because, per point one, they’re fun. Also, you’re welcome to bring any of my books, whether new or old,!to be signed. That’s always 100% kosher with authors.
Here are the fuller descriptions with details. Hope to see you there.
Official Launch, April 2nd, 5pm
Widmer Brothers Brewery, 929 N. Russell
I’ll do an introduction, possibly a short reading, and then we’ll bring out Kurt for a conversation. (Rob is apparently hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, which is perfectly appropriate. These guys have never been into self-celebration.) I’m really hoping there will be some Altbier on tap as well. This will be the beeriest of the events, and the only one you’ll be able to hear from a Widmer.
Friday April 5, 7:30 p.m. Powell’s Reading
Powell’s City of Books
1005 W Burnside, just steps from the old Weinhard brewery
This is my big debut at the downtown Powell’s (I did the westside location for The Beer Bible), and I am super excited. I’ll do a reading, a Q&A, and we can talk beer, Portland, the Widmers—anything you wish. If you’re trying to decide which event to attend, this is going to be the more literary of the two. I will attempt to get through a reading, and I expect some folks from Powell’s audience to show up. It’s a bookstore, so also the place to buy my other books if you’re looking to have those signed.
